As the Cast Changes

Character rotation is something that the Lost City of Atlanta is no stranger to. Recently, two new Scions have joined the Band: Malic and Aster. Randall left the Band to be with his new husband in Africa, and Kainalu (who never really joined in the first place) left after an intense argument with Johnny.

This seems like a good time to review our former PC's and what's happened to them. For the most part, these PC's became former PC's as the result of their players either having schedule changes that prevented them from playing, or simply disappearing.

  • Otto, Scion of Uller – He left the group directly after the first story. The Band had just defeated the zombified Scion Ellie and prevented her from completing the ritual that would have slain Nemesis and unleashed Kur, the prime Avatar of Death. Otto departed the Band due to conflicts with most of the other members. His reckless approach to everything and disregard for non-violent options made him difficult for them to work with. Now, Otto is fighting giants and making headlines, but he hasn't reached the same level of power that the Atlantans have.
  • Lucas, Scion of Persephone – Almost before the Band's story began, Lucas had to leave. He was called back to Hades, where he'd grown up, to aid his mother and her husband with their war against the forces of Mortis. He still lives in Hades and acts as Hades' majordomo, running the affairs of the Underworld while Hades himself conducts the war against Mortis on the Greek front.
  • Kai, Scion of Izanagi – Unlike most of the others, Kai never intended to leave the Band. He was murdered by agents of Mortis while investigating the MARTA tunnels under Atlanta. His body was discovered in a passage leading to the Tomb of Kur. He had been reduced to putrescent sludge.
  • Yin Xue, Scion of Nüwa – Always seeking to avoid attention and confrontations, Yin Xue demanded the highest standards of proof before taking any action against suspected wrong-doers. She was sympathetic to Ellie, disregarding the evidence that began piling up against the unfortunate, zombified Scion. In the end it was her sympathy and her innocent-until-proven-guilty attitude that resulted in her demise. Before Ellie was defeated, she befriended Yin Xue and opened the Chinese Scion to Chthonic taint. Eventually it overtook the young woman, transforming her into an undead Scion like Ellie herself. She now works for the very forces she once opposed.
  • Marti, Scion of the Black Tezcatlipoca – His relationship with the rest of the Band was always rocky. Marti only joined the Atlantans on his father's direct orders and he treated the assignment as a punishment. When he started a war in North Korea in order to gain favor with Ares during Garreth's trial, the rest of the Band took it poorly. Marti was able to plead his case with his father and leave the Atlantans behind to become a political advisor to the Empire of the Fifth Sun.
  • Izzy, Scion of Xochiquetzal – Unable to cope with one of her Bandmates allying himself with a Titan and then hiding that fact from the rest of them, Izzy left the Atlantans and rejoined her original Band in Mexico. She now acts as one of the ambassadors of the Empire of the Fifth Sun. After being possessed by the ghost of the ancient Muon Empress Haral-et, Izzy suffered severe mental damage. She is recovering in Mexico City under the care of the Chola, her best friend.
  • Rhyan, Scion of Konohana – A reserved young woman at the best of times, Rhyan was a quiet, solemn member of the Band. Her membership was a job, at best a temporary assignment and at worst an opportunity to gain intelligence on possible future targets. Rhyan disappeared while the Band was on Lemuria. The most remarkable thing about her disappearance is that not only did none of her Bandmates notice at the time, but after nearly a month, none of them has noticed yet
  • Randall, Scion of Kebauet – After his marriage to Dominic, Randall announced to his Band that he would be leaving them to join his new husband in the Congo. Randall parted from the Atlantans on good terms, and still contacts them occasionally to offer advice or warn them when he receives visions relevant to their problems.
  • Kainalu, Scion of Poliahu – Kain agreed to help the Band when they went to investigate the cause of the terrible storms in the Pacific, mostly to protect Hawaii. He agreed to help them save Izzy when she was possessed by Haral-et, because it was the nice thing to do. He never managed to make a strong connection with the others, despite their time together in the strange past-vision they shared while on Lemuria. After a final, blistering argument with Johnny, Kainalu departed from the Atlantans' company and returned to his life of wandering do-gooding.

  1. Sweet. Johnny's now the longest played character still around.

  2. As a note, Marti has now been assassinated under mysterious circumstances.
